Caeleb Dressel, the 28-year-old American swimmer, won a total of three Olympic medals at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

He secured two gold medals in the 4 x 100 meter mixed medley and the 4 x 100 meter freestyle relays, and a silver medal in the men’s 4 x 100 meter medley relay.

What happened at the Paris Olympics?

Dressel's grand total of Olympic medals now stands at 10, with nine gold and a silver medal to his name.

He competed alongside fellow Olympic gold medalists Bobby Finke and Katie Ledecky, under the coaching of Anthony Nesty, the Head Coach of U.S. Olympic Men’s Swimming Team.

Dressel is the pride of The University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville.

Lessons learned from this Olympic journey

Dressel remarked, “It really does take an army, I cannot do this sport on my own.”

He leaned on everybody this year, using the context he’s grown from Gainesville or throughout the sport of swimming.

There is always someone who has been able to relate to situations he’s gone through.

Future plans

Dressel revealed, “We have a very fun September planned, I’m going to Elizabeth Biesel’s wedding in Rhode Island.”

He will also be going to Las Vegas for a fun little trip with his younger sister, Sherridon.

Dressel loves to travel around America, and he has a couple of fishing trips and shrimping trips with his dad planned.

Mental health in the digital age

Dressel said, “I hate social media, I see some of the importance of it but I feel like a lot of it has gotten very out of hand.”

He got weaved into social media, starting with Twitter in sixth grade and Facebook at 12 or 13 years old.

Dressel had a pretty good time with his swimming career, and he remembers the first time he heard the word Twitter.

He doesn’t have Facebook or Snapchat anymore, and Instagram came a little later for him.

And he certainly got weaved into social media, a fact he acknowledges.

But Dressel is focused on his swimming career and his personal life, including his family and friends.

So he will continue to prioritize his well-being and his relationships.

Dressel will make it to October, and then he will plan October, taking things one step at a time.

He is grateful for the support of his team and his loved ones, and he is excited for what the future holds.
